What is a Micro Degree?

Micro Credentials are, according to the definition in the EU Recommendation on lifelong learning and employability, certifications of short, self-contained learning units delivered in highly flexible and therefore inclusive formats. Their transparent description and formal recognition by an educational institution are essential components, as are portability and stackability. This means that they can be completed individually and later combined—for example, to form a Micro Degree.

A Micro Degree offers a learning alternative to traditional education formats. Unlike conventional degrees, which cover broad areas of knowledge, a Micro Degree focuses on a specialised subject or specific skill and requires significantly less time to complete.
